Crain, the winged stallion, once the stead of the Angel of Destiny, is a creature of the light. This makes his acceptance of Medea very strange, being the Goddess of Night. But Crain befriended the Goddess while she was a mortal girl. He at first seems to be a pegasus, like any other, but he is actually one of the last Immortal Steads of the Old Gods. He has all the power that such a thing would hint at, yet he has little power of his own. All the Immortal Steads are impervious to magic and are magical beings, but can't use that magic. Instead, they inhance the magic of their riders. This makes them valable steads to any mage that can tame one.
