"You" is the demoness Lilith, and this is what happened when she stopped to talk to a janitor. People do this rather often actually.

You say 'aw'
A janitor says 'Just keep talking.'
You ask 'excuse me?'
A janitor says 'I don't seem to understand you.'
You say 'You're telling me'
A janitor asks 'telling me? That's amazing?'
You exclaim 'Of course it is!'
A janitor asks 'What are you afraid of?'
You say 'pshaw, I fear nothing.'
A janitor asks 'Are you afraid?'
You ask 'No, or course not, didn't I just say nothing scares me, what is wrong with you?'
A janitor asks 'Is that your problem?'
You ponder the question.
You ask 'Well, I suppose it could be, what do you think?'
A janitor asks 'What about me?'
You say 'nono, we were talking about me.'
A janitor asks 'Could you be more precise?'
You say 'Well, no, not really.'
A janitor says 'Explain'
You ask 'I just said I couldn't, are you even paying attention to me?'
A janitor asks 'What about me?'
You say 'Ah ha! You weren't, bah, some help you are.'
A janitor says 'I'm sorry, I can't help you, maybe the helpfiles work.'
You ask 'Why didn't you say that in the first place then?'
A janitor asks 'Why not?'
You exclaim 'That's what I asked!'
A janitor says 'I am confused.'
You say 'You aren't the only one.'
A janitor says 'Perhaps I only pretend I am the only one.'
You blink innocently at a janitor.
You say 'I'm not sure if you are incredibly smart, or stupid.'
A janitor says 'I am sometimes not sure if me are incredibly smart or stupid too.'
You say 'With that sentence structure, I'm leaning towards stupid.'
A janitor says 'I think you are pretty stupid.'
You say 'What? Me, are you brain dead? Bah.'
A janitor says 'If you want to die, you could go to death's tower.'
You say 'No I do not want to die, moron.'
A janitor asks 'Do you want to die?'
You say 'I just said I didn't, sheesh.'
A janitor asks 'Are you new here?'
You say 'No, but apparently you are.'
A janitor asks 'Never?'
You ask 'Never, what does that have to do with it?'
A janitor asks 'Not ever?'
You say 'Nono, not what does it mean, gods, no wonder you're an janitor.'
A janitor says 'I don't believe you'
You ask 'You have a broom, you are wearing what a janitor wears, you are cleaning, what do you call that?'
A janitor asks 'What about me?'
You say 'Bah, idiot.'
A janitor asks 'Is there anything else?'
You say 'Ha, as if, get lost.'
A janitor says 'I am confused.'
