The battle of Medea and Vector
After learning the darker side of magic from the drow mage
of Kal Tirith, the mage gave her the Staff of Destiny to
kill Vector with. Medea was still in need of one last thing
however. Vector had a black steed-dragon, Medea needed
an equal to it to ensure her victory. There were three
such possiblities, the Fire Stallion, bringer of dawn.
The NightMare, bringer of dream, and the Winged Steed of
Destiny. Of the three, it was Crain, the winged stallion
she would choose. He was the most powerful, being resistant
to magic and once the steed of the lost Angel of Destiny.
There was only one place she could think to look, the ruins
of Destiny's city, Fate.
Drawn by the Staff of Destiny, it was Crain who found Medea.
Being a creature of light, he would never serve one of the
dark, yet he found it impossible to judge the girls place.
She seemed both and neither. Unsure, the stallion gave her
a test. Crain was telepathic and so sent her his thoughts.
'Greetings daughter. You seek me, so I will ask this of you,
give the staff to me.'
Medea was torn, she needed Crain, but the power of the staff
aswell. In a leap of faith, she did give him the staff.
She would be well rewarded for her trust. Crain nodded in
satisfaction as one of the dark would never have given up
the staff. He then called upon the Goddess Caitlynne, one
of the last old gods.
Caitlynne knew Medea, as her father had been a faithful
follower and had been watching his free-spirited daughter
for some time. The Goddess smiled upon Medea. "Your cause
is just little one. I will give you powers beyond that of
the staff, the power of the elements and of the goddly
lightning.(came to be known as Medean Lightning later)
Go now, Crain will assist you in your quest.' and with that,
the Goddess put her fingertips on Medea's forehead and
transfered the powers of fire, earth, air, water and that
of the holy lightning and disappeared.
Crain and Medea then left the ruins and went towards the
Land of Night. The once beautiful land lay in ruins and
was over run with dark beings, the cries of suffering echoed
forever it seemed. They come upon Vectors Tower soon enough.
It was a huge, looming structure of obsidian. It looked like
several huge, black thorned vines had grown twisted together.
Blood was everywhere, oozing down the very walla of the tower.
Sicken by the sight, Crainand Medea decided against landing and
instead, flew upwards. Once they reached the top level of
the tower, Crain neighed a bold, ringing challenge that only
an immortal horse could produce and was echoed by Medea's
own piercing warcry. At first all remained silent, then came
a deafening scream of the black dragon and thundering
response of an enraged demon.
